King Kong is a giant ape created by Merian C. Cooper for the film of the same name. King Kong was used by Cracked throughout the magazine's run, initially based on the original 1933 film, but also to a great extent following the 1976 re-make. At that time, Kong became one of Cracked's pop culture regulars, appearing on the cover multiple times as well as inside the magazine. By the time of the 2005 remake, Cracked was defunct.
